ind for the cheap forges, and spi for the cheap temples. the UB isnt great but the war chariot is awesome. but youre probably right about some of the other choices being better.

pacal seems like a reasonable choice too, and i wouldn't complain about willem.

Who's CRE/IND? Cheap forges and libraries might be a good combo...

I think that opinion in the United States is decidedly different from the rest of the world because we have a free press -- by free, I mean a virgorously presented right wing point of view on the air and available to all.- Ned

I'd stay away from SPI, since you don't know when you'll get any religions.

The downside of CRE/IND (I think it's a french leader) is that it doesn't give anything for health or happiness, which are paramount on deity since the cities cap so fast (size 3 or 4 IIRC)

ok in light of that, i think we should use hannibal (fin/chm) or washington (exp/chm).

I would love to play along but I will be out of town until late next week. Maybe next time. If it were me though, I would prefer any game except Epic. I generally don't have that kind of time to play. Also, for Diety I think I would prefer Willem or Hannibal. Creative might be really useful to help maintain your borders because the AI gets pretty pushy with new cities on the harder levels and with all the bonuses they get they can afford to run 10 o 20 percent on the culture slider and still compete in science.

Is anyone going to attempt this as a builder? My last Emperor game I never had any fights until quite late and then I just had to hold a weak Pacal back once or twice. Siding with the right civs and their religion in the beginning was crucial to my winning. I would probably try a builder game if I was around.

Glad to see so many comments and interest. I would also love to see the game played in a variety of ways, which is of course going to happen since everyone naturally makes different decisions and faces different occurences along the way.

I personally am a builder but would probably try an early rush with just 2 or 3 cities and attempt to take out a close neighbor in order to gain a foothold but I can't say this for sure since the map and naturally the neighbors will be dictating the way it's going to be played.

I think we'll go with Hannibal for this one.

Over at CivFanatics we are trying something similar, so I like the idea, even if I normally play Monarch/Emperor, but I surely would give this one a shot, too.

Hannibal sounds good, but I would prefer normal gamepseed.

I normally play at Immortal, but I never win (so far).
I play a decent game and end up somewhere in the middle of the scorecard most of the time.

I'd defenitely give it a go.

I usually play on emperor/immortal, I win some I lose some; but I do believe that a standard map (with continents) on deity would be almost impossible to win (I'm ready to be proven wrong however). Some of us will surely survive to the end; but we will have to settle with the score we have at that time.

It usually takes me weeks/months to finish a game, so it will take a while to get the result, unless I'm wiped out at the beginning.

sign up the legendary AAHZ for this one as well. I shall archer-rush my way into oblivion... maybe take one of 'em with me

I will play any map type, civ, settings. No restarts FTW.

I'd go with Washington, more due to familarity than anything. Either one would require a coastal start to even be in the running.

I'm actually leaning towards a Pangaea and perhaps to go with Washington for it. Yes, I agree that a coastal location is necessary even to get three cities up since from what I've seen in my various testgames on different types of map is that the land really is in short supply and you're lucky to get three cities up before the map is full.

I'll try to set the game up over the weekend.
