quite an interesting topic for someone who studies environmental sciences and lives in the "Lüneburger Heide". This is a region (50km x 50km roughly - no i wont translate that to miles - that would be just silly) that was practically turned into a desert by deforestation for energy-use in order to gain salt in the middle ages. One of my classes this semester is "analyses of socio-technical metabolisms" which is chiefly about material and energy flows. Maybe we want a game which features such flows. Then forest could be transformed to energy (+polution) and effieciecy would rise with technological development. But that game wouldnt be civ... (still i want it !)
