voted 90-95%, just to not sound too negative. in real life, probably highest is 97% i suspect.

there really should be a rule saying that a unit cant do more than say double its own current strength in damage to an attacker/defender.

spearman vs tank ftw. (i actually think civ2 had the best basic combat system )

Anyone played Panzer General II? It had this nice feature for tanks, rolling over weak units. No actual combat took place, the unit didn't even lose it's attack. Just crushed the defender. Ya, 't was nice.

      Unless there was rugged defence...

99.6 cost me a city. You'll find some of my internet games entitled "99.6" as a tribute.

I don,t mind losing the high odds rolls here and there ...It is the timing of these unfortunate gambits that I truly detest

Does this include the "kill the top defender and all 50 units in the tile die" part?

The trick isn't to break some eggs to make an omelette, it's convincing the eggs to break themselves in order to aspire to omelettehood.

I have a modern armor that has about 300 exp in my latest marathon game. The first promotions that I make are the Drills and +1 move and +100% experience. This way you can make 6 exp per turn. After the commando promotion you can make up to 18 exp per turn on the offensive.

And on the topic I have lost 99.9% battles. I rarely win battles with low odds because I rarely attack with low odds (with the notable exception of the first couple of cats/trebs/canons that soften the deffenders).

Thank god for those types of attacks or there would be tons more whinners complaining about it. At least this way people win some at short odds so don't think it's that one sided. Most people wouldn't do short odds attacks unless they were expending obsolete units to soften up hard targets.
