Inflation: is this normal?

Ah... that sounds alright. Out of curiosity, what are your numbers anyway? Total expenses, inflation and corporation maintenance specifically?

The inflation percent shouldn't drop. Only what your paying should since corporation payments become immune to inflation.

Solver, and others, I'm sorry, you're right, the patch does have an effect. I didn't notice it at first, because the improvement was only very minor. The figures are:

Without the patch:

Total income: 1049 g
Inflation: 1007 g (Rate is 134%)
Corporation Payments: 78 g
Total expenses: 1759 g

With the patch:

Total income: 1049 g
Inflation: 932 g (Rate is 134%)
Corporation Payments: 78 g
Total expenses: 1684 g

Further investigation revealed that the real reason for the debt was because of foreign colonies. Most of my cities were on one continent and I built a new city on a foregn continent. Somehow that new city had become designated as my capital city, so I was being crucified by colony expenses. I have to say I'm not quite sure how I managed to build a palace in the new city, without noticing, but that's what seems to have happened.

You probably just missed the item you wanted to click in the build list and accidentally clicked a Palace there Has happened to me.
