Does the AI use subs and missile cruisers loaded with missiles?

Yes it does. It likes nukes for the most part.

Well see what you guys are missing is that these missles are actually loaded on C-130's and then flown to the new city. Of course, a C-130 can't land on a sub, so it has to dock and get the missle loaded. :P

It doesn't load subs or crusiers with guided missiles because those take intelligence and coordination to use. A tactical nuke is a problem no matter where it hits.

Guided missiles are loaded exactly the same way as tactical nukes, and the AI uses both. Just because you don't like some AI behaviour is no reason to make up stuff about the AI not using other things.

It wasn't made up. In five games now (one on marathon) I've yet to see AI use privateers or guided missiles. Not that the latter is much of a complaint, since guided missiles are extremely weak and the AI does fine without them.

Well, you realize that just one instance of them using the missiles will make you wrong, don't you?

Wiglaf is already wrong about the Privateers. At least one person on these forums has reported the use of them by the AI (though to poor effect).

That's absurd. Either way privateer AI is atrocious to the point it might as well not be in there.

To be honest I've never seen an enemy privateer.

Seems that there's a problem with Privateers where they do get used, but usually not like they're supposed to. I am quite unsure of the specifics, though.

That's a particularly egregious bug because firaxis' BTS press release explicitly touted paratroopers and privateers, saying "the difference from civ3 is the AI knows how to use these new units". paratrooper AI seems good, but privateers, not so much.

I've had privateers tear up fishing boats at a port I had surrounded by another civ's closed cultural borders. That seems like a "good use."
