1.) Do you think the basic Civ IV engine is sufficiently robust to endure for several more years (and thus several more expansion packs,) or are you planning on some more revolutionary changes that will bring the series up to Civ V?

2.) Are there any plans to bring significant improvment to naval combat in future patches/XPs -- like an expansion of the PATROL order to include ships intercept enemy fleets approaching your coastline to land troops on your territory?

When soliciting questions for Firaxis Games' Jon "Trip" Shafer and Alex "alexman" Mantzaris as part of PolyCast's twenty-second episode, half-a-dozen were addressed but had to be cut for timing or other practical purposes. As disclosed would be the case earlier, they are now available below. All answers provided are by Mantzaris who was ultimately unable to attend the recording session.


1. In response to "playshogi"'s first question: It will be the closest to the one you select to start a G[olden] A[ge].

2. In response to "playshogi"'s second question: No, you lose ownership of forts once they enter foreign borders.

3. In response to "BigFree"'s second question: I'm not aware of this problem, but some things slip through the cracks. Post a bug report on the forums and it may get fixed.

4. In response to "JimMac"'s second question: There is no technical reason. It was just a design decision.

5. In response to "MrWhereItsAt"'s first question: It's been a while, so I can't remember off the top of my head. Why ruin the fun? The source code is out there. Let the fans figure some of that stuff out.
