You know, for the first time ever we Aussies got something before anywhere else in the world, and its "really really stupid" (to quote Moonwolf) and many other comments.

And yet, we've never said anything about the fact we get everything else a week/month/year after US release. We take it as matter of course.

Double standards on the part of people complaining obviously.

From a business standpoint, while I wouldn't say it's "stupid", it is questionable and confusing. I'd love to hear why they released it this way. I was figuring it was some kind of error with a distributor and that heads were rolling somewhere. But I mean, if you, an employee, thinks it's fine and dandy, and are in fact being pretty nationalistic and insulting to others in the process, well then I guess that's an official stance.

I'm not an employee of 2K/Firaxis.

          I was a volunteer.

There's no "official" accreditation to anything I say.

In fact, my suggestion is to take my words with a grain of salt.

Firaxis abused our addictions, I tells ya!

The not-so-obvious point of my post was to question the wisdom of releasing to one of the largest gaming markets last. If it was a problem with logistics then I suppose I could understand that. If that is the issue, I can't see how shipping copies to some far flung corner of the world would have priority over shipping to a key market, unless there are production facilities in Australia.

As well, my apologies to Firaxis. Whatever it is that I have physically deprived them of I shall endeavor to return to their possession. As far as accusations of committing violent acts against ships on the high seas, I must refute that allegation. I haven't been on a boat for years. Besides, I like ninjas more.

My bad, I assumed the scenario designers were paid for their efforts. Carry on!

                    LotC:

There are production facilities for most of the big software companies in Australia. Australia produces all the "Oceanic" versions.

Maybe the fact we have a smaller market meant faster manufacturing times? I don't know the reason, it's just a hypothesis.

Walked into A Dutch PC store in the Hague today, and what do I spy? BtS for €20! Played a quick game with Dutch civ today, nice special naval unit, it comes late in midgame but the East Indies trader has enough punch to be a decider for naval superiority on an island map.
Skeptics should forego any thought of convincing the unconvinced that we hold the torch of truth illuminating the darkness. A more modest, realistic, and achievable goal is to encourage the idea that one may be mistaken. Doubt is humbling and constructive; it leads to rational thought in weighing alternatives and fully reexamining options, and it opens unlimited vistas.

LOL - new disaster: Civ BtS shortage causes riot in the city of Apolyton.

Mind you, I'm kinda maddened because mine will be sitting in some Swiss postshop until Monday since this country shuts down outside of working hours - and there's no post on Saturday (can you BELIEVE it?!)

Trying to stave off the cravings with some of the more complex mods on CFC - which seem to include some of the simpler BtS additions, by the way (Visa 3.20). See you Monday if I live that long.

Looks like in germany it won´t come out till the end of the next week.

At least the shop clerk of EB Games hadn´t any other informations when I asked him yesterday.

Well, I could drive to the netherlands and buy it there, not a long way from Ruhr valley, but I prefer to wait patiently until it is available here.

Due to family stuff I have not played it much - but the space mod is very very cool............
I don't know why he saved my life. Maybe in those last moments he loved life more than he ever had before. Not just his life - anybody's life, my life. All he'd wanted were the same answers the rest of us want. Where did I come from? Where am I going? How long have I got? All I could do was sit there and watch him die.

Got problems with my version. I think it might have something to do with the game being in DVD format which won’t read from my CD-ROM.

Bearing in mind that the manual states that the game has the same hardware requirements as the vanilla game, I’m wondering if I might have missed something.

Or do I simply need to find a CD-ROM version of the game?
