I have received items the day before release on pre-order before, it can happen if you get lucky...
I guess you could get it before the official release in a shop if it's a smaller outlet. I'm sure Game (a large chain in the UK not sure if they're international) have huge stacks of the game behind the counter but they won't put it out until tomorrow

I would have preferred in the US if BtS came out before the new Harry Potter book... That way I could have played all weekend. Now I just will find out who lives and who will die in some dumb old wizarding world.
Darn you Firaxis and your dratted release dates, too!

There goes any chance of sleep tonight............I don't know why he saved my life. Maybe in those last moments he loved life more than he ever had before. Not just his life - anybody's life, my life. All he'd wanted were the same answers the rest of us want. Where did I come from? Where am I going? How long have I got? All I could do was sit there and watch him die.

Got it via [some Bittorent site] and [some torrent tracker]. Can't wait for retail release in North America. A manual will sure be nice.
Initial impressions: Advanced start is a very welcome addition, though I'm not sure the AI uses it as well as humans. My desire to build all of the Ancient wonders seems to be curtailed by the abundance of wonders to be built in that age. I'm thinking that a tech rush via Writing->Aesthetics->Literature is a sound strat. Build The Oracle for Metal Casting and crank wonders out of your production city to get you through the Classical Age. A couple of Courthouses should keep you in the Espionage race.
I haven't played past Classical; we will see how Corporations add to the mix. I'm saving up for a Great Artist as we speak. Can you believe that? I have 3 Gold in my capital's fat cross .
