But there's no sense crying over every mistake. You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.

Not that I know much about console technology, but what makes it so? Shouldn't multi-core CPUs at a good clock rate be decent for AIs? Or is it some retarded limitation on how the CPU can be programmed?
According to him the individual processors don't have features like branch prediction, giving them poor performance for most AI tasks.

Every version of Civ I have played has always benefited from patching. Is it possible to patch a console game?

I just figured he had his hand down his pants because he's french. Firaxis is trying to say French people are perverts. And they are right about that.

What will this kill this game is that modding will be impossible.

And the movie is full of purtty graphics.....

Still don't think it will make me rush out and buy a console though.......
I don't know why he saved my life. Maybe in those last moments he loved life more than he ever had before. Not just his life - anybody's life, my life. All he'd wanted were the same answers the rest of us want. Where did I come from? Where am I going? How long have I got? All I could do was sit there and watch him die.

I tend to agree with the sentiments about the AI above. As pretty as the game might be, if it doesn't have a strong AI then even a rather average player will steamroll over enemy Civs.

However if it's designed with multiplayer in mind and the combat engine isn't dumbed down, it could be very playable.

                    Sorry, I nothing of computers.

So, a game made to be played with PC or console must not be the

same thing as chess made to be played with wood or clay.

Is the machine abilities/limitations who prevails?

                    Best regards,

I am afraid that might happen, but I do believe it's a great news to ahve Civ coming to the consoles.
I'm always very much afraid that Civ Rev will be limited by Xbox's HW limitations (whatever Asher says) and limit the PS3's capabilities. As for the AI I'm absolutely positive any console can match the AI in Civ 4. I mean it's a 2005 game and Civ Rev is coming in 2008 (which makes me think the work with the AI model is pretty much done already, just being reworked to work on the consoles), so (whatever Asher says) I don't think there will be any AI problems in any of the consoles.

I also see Civ Rev MP being a blast, and a great experience to have on the console with friends other than pressing R1 endlessly.

I do expect 2K to have all text translated into european Portuguese like all Sony 1st-party titles and for Firaxis to include a split screen MP mode, including offline!

Really cool video interview on E3, with gameplay footage:

I just have to beg to Firaxis to reconsider the PSP version, and try to do it, preferably by Fall 2008. A lot of hardcore gaming teenagers own a PSP, and considering I got hooked on Civ 1 when I was 13, I believe you'll be missing out a critical demographics who will love Civ!

AND, the only strategy one can get on the PSP are cards games like Yu-Gi-Oh and stuff, and the platform is desperate for a Civilization title.

I thought he mentioned PSP? He certainly mentioned the DS, which is something I would actually buy for business trips.

Ah, too bad. Thanks for the link. By the way, did anybody else catch the online scoring system that supposedly "Sid came up with"? Came up with what? At least the GalCiv games have had MetaVerse forever. I hate it when devs talk about a feature as if it's cutting edge or original because it makes them look ignorant of the larger market, particularly of a market segment in which Firaxis competes. Maybe Barry didn't mean that phrase in such a grandiose way.

Anyway, I hope the game does appeal to console gamers, but it's hard to imagine them playing for 3 hours at a time. I'm also not sure there is enough action (the visuals became tiresome even just in that short clip, IMO) to work well on a console except maybe for the console dads who don't already have a computer? Still, I'd buy this on a hand held for sure!
