                      'cept that there wasn't an endless stream at all, and they were all completely optional as the core game wasn't touched.

                      CiC amd FW had some scenarios that were completely optional, MGE had MP that was completely optional, and ToT was a different standalone game that was completely optional.

                          Well that's your choice - doesn't make the approach a rip off.

                          If anything the Civ3/Civ4 approach is more sly as you have to buy the expansions to get the upgrades to the core game, which everyone will want of course.
