  • New to Civ saga

    Hi all.

First of all, sorry for my bad English, I am Spanish.

When I was ten, my parents give me Civilization II.I tried to play it but it was more dificcult and complex for me.

Yesterday, I found the game and I read the user's manual and I think that Civilization...:king: are the best game ever for me.I usually play Age Of Empires, Rise Of Nations and Total War Saga, and I think that I will love Civ Saga if I play it.And I want a game complex, complex and with a lot of ages, options, units...to spend a lot of hours and say...one...more...turn...

But my problem is...Civ have 4 games now, and I never played it.

    What should I do?

    -Play Civilization II
-Buy Civilization III + Play the World + Conquest
    -Buy Civilization IV + Warlords
-Buy Civilization Chronicles (this version includes the user's manual?)

What Is the best Civ game?

    Can you help me?

    Thanks all.

This is what I would suggest:

    1. Skip Civ2.
    2. Skip Civ3.
    3. Buy Civ4 (if cheap, Civ4 + Warlords).
    4. Skip Warlords (if not bundled with Civ4 cheap).
    5. Wait a couple of months and buy Beyond the Sword when released in July.

As Dale said, you would be best going straight into Civ4. Civ3 is considered the low point of the seires. Some argue that civ2 is better than civ4, but I haven't played civ2. Many of the people still playing civ2 are diehard veterans.

Civ2 may have been better IN ITS TIME, but there are many aspects of its gameplay which don't make sense in a more mature game market. Most of those who hang on to Civ2 at this point are either afraid of the future or don't want to let go of game exploits and loopholes that give them unfair advantages.

Either way, I believe Civ4 is a much better game and I see no point in playing Civ2 for any reason other than curiosity/nostalgia.

Civ4 is superior for a new player in the saga.

It has many more features than Civ2, which aren't only here for fluff, but which really improve gameplay and make it deeper. Also, the interface is streamlined. Welcome to the Civ world

Civ 4 has no throne room, though .

                          De nada.

I should tell you there is a Spanish language forum here too, to make it easier for you if you have technical questions that challenge your English skills. Although, I have to say you're English is a lot better than some who have posted on here before...

Welcome to the Civ world! It doesn't matter, missing out the earlier ones - any single one of them was brilliant for the time they were released.

I agree with most people here, go with Civ IV. It's better than the other Civ games

It's just because they miss this:

Why don't they bring them back in an expansion pack
This space is empty... or is it?

I like very much all my civ games: I, II, III, IV, SMAC, Colonize,
                              Master of Magic.

                              All are worth buying,IMO.

                              Civ IV is the best.

                              Best regards,
