A joke occurs sometimes when people only APPEAR to be telling the truth, but make it fairly obvious that they are only joking.

A good example:

Posting a page long article on why Civ4 sucks, citing reasons such as "Ghandi was never president"

Another example:

Posting an avatar of a black man to replace a georgetown one after you assaulted me, in a racist manner, on the basis of my avatar alone.

Another example:

Posting "[[ITS ON NOW 1$$!@$" over a stupid internet argument, followed by a dozen angry smilies, can be taken to be a bit tongue-in-cheek.

First off, what’s with Gandhi? He’s always so angry at me. Me! Franklin D. Roosevelt! I thought Gandhi was never allowed to be angry at anyone. It’s really weird seeing him snarl all the time. And I also don’t think he was ever King of India. I know he’s on their rupee-dollars, but that’s like making the American leader Eugene V. Debs. Look, I dug what he stood for, but he never made it to President. Every time he threatens me I feel subconsciously annoyed. “Yeah, you and what Army?” And then he has an army. It’s really stupid.

I started playing recently ...2 things about the graphics:
1) in the end game, they get UGLY. things for me start ok but by the last eras , it's just atrocious looking. How can they still not get roads/railroads right after Civ3? The cottages/etc also look bad.
2) I think that the Warcraft 3 cartoon vibe didn't look good at all, and Civ4 continues the trend. It doesn't even look like a board game ... it just looks sort of bizarre.

It's not terrible, I guess, in the early eras, but the unit graphics are particularly dinky. Terrain's more pleasant looking but still goofy. Surprised more people don't have an issue here.

I'll tell you a little something about jokes. They are usually funny. So when I read something and it is not funny, but idiotic, I come to one of two conclusions....

1. Either it is a bad joke.

2. Or it is just some weirdo ranting.

Definitely. That, and the fact that WC3 started the whole Heroes (GP) and fewer units thing before turning the franchise into a full-blown RPG, makes me worry for Civ
