  • Well RJ comparisons can still be made as long as people are playing the same start with same traits/UU.

My original reaction above was that they wouldn't add this feature to SP - the reason being that it would be pretty odd in a game that's still partly about immersion in the SP context.

But I suppose they might add it as an option if it's in MP already, to stop the inevitable whining.

HAHAHAHAH. I couldn't stop laughing for about 4 mins after readin that. Good stuff Harrison.

Also, you people need to stop arguing about the validity of civs and their contribution to history. The whole point of Civ is that its, 'what if...?' . Let the khmer have their 'chance'. THere are almost a billion SE asians. They probably should get a chance to be the first to research modern armour.
And about the North American Indians, we should let them be. They had a shot at hollering at civilization but they didn't have any domesticatable animals and only one ****ty domesticatable crop (corn). But if they start out with some grassland cows and some wheat, and maybe some iron lying around, then who knows.
May it come that all the Radiances will be known as ones own radiances

The current situation seems to me rather like a game of chess where if you play white one of your pawns can also capture using a knight's move and if you play black, your rook can capture en passant.

If we must have all these variations, why not go the whole hog and allow a complete choice of traits, starting techs, UUs and unique buildings?

        • Personal customization to suit personal needs are great! Sure, it invalidates much posting of games in comparison, but that's why I don't post so much.

I use units modified so they are similar to those in Hephmod (much tighter relationships); Siege adjusted to facilitate counter-battery fire with their defense vs. contemporary siege improved; city raider promotions removed from armor and given to gunpowder units (INFANTRY storm cities, not tanks)! Stronger barbarian appearance with fewer unit restrictions, no combat advantages vs. barbs by anyone, and barb cities that can build markets & libraries.

I wouldn't be surprised if the ease of customization in Civ4 is a primary cause of less traffic in the forums compared with the earlier games.

You could, and games would still be comparable if players were all playing the same start. But I don't think Firaxis will go this far for the same reasons I posted above.

            • It strikes me as simply unbelievable what some people will find to complain about.
