As far as I know porting to Linux is usually done by other companies, not the developer or the publisher so not sure how the developers would waste their time.

But porting to Linux still costs money, and I believe it's rarely worth the extra cost
This space is empty... or is it?

I wonder, where would be the "critical mass" of Linux gaming? How much linux home users would there need to be, for companies to consider it as a viable platform?
I've allways wanted to play "Russ Meyer's Civilization"

          Probably.

Perhaps the Linux community could help reduce the cost but I am not sure if that would motivate the companies

Interesting article and I think the writer has a point to some extend

Meh, Vista seriously looks like a disaster. Even the sales numbers are far lower than expected, apparently.

Then again, I really, really like Office 2007.

I knew some of this, and have already promised myself never to install Vista, but that they have already implemented the DRM module that can cause the media moguls corrupting a person's system, was new to me! Not sure if that is legal in all countries though...

Thanks for the link btw, interesting and scary (I would have though that wether I'd like Civ5 for Linux or not). Back to Civ, I have bought my last Civ-game if Civ5 comes only for Vista...

I'm using Vista right now, and while I recognise annoyances, I have to say that that is an extremely poorly written and factually incorrect article. Looks like it was written by a mediocre journalist with poor grasp of technology.

And of course they blame it on pirates, even though a lot of people who could get it for free (from Unis I think) a lot of them chose not to get it

Meh, Microsoft owes their dominant market position to pirates. I don't know if people like Ballmer understand it, but many others certainly do, Gates included.

Perhaps for home use you're right but the article refers to business use and there might be a point there.

                              Nice FUD.

I especially liked this statement: "Linux Starts to Find Home on Desktops". Yea, indeed. I remember to have read exactly this statement about 10 years ago.

Linux on the desktop is just like Windows on the server. Horribly bad.
