Call To Power 2 Cradle 3+ mod in progress: https://apolyton.net/forum/other-games/call-to-power-2/ctp2-creation/9437883-making-cradle-3-fully-compatible-with-the-apolyton-edition
been offline from civ for several months. but now I'm back and I'm mostly playing prince, preparing for the move to monarch. the only thing is that I suspect that monarch is more work than fun, so I'm not sure if it is worth it.
I'm pretty new, only played a couple of games. I'm working on mastering Noble. I can get the early game, but towards the late game, the AI starts to outtech me majorly and spam cities in any open space. It annoys the crap out of me.
Just made the move to Prince in Warlords, and my first game is going well. I had poor resources and not-so-great land. Somehow I did well enough to be in a tight tech race towards the end with one other civ, whilst two others cripple each other with occasional wars, and another is a vassal I disembowelled long ago.
Hopefully my next start will be better, meaning that I will be better at this level than I have been so far!
Well, I've played all of the levels. I'm most comfortable at Monarch/Emperor, since the higher ones require a very large amount of effort and micromanagement to win (and the occasional bit of good luck and/or some specific settings too). But then again, I don't play single player all that much any more - multiplayer fuels most of my civ addiction these days. Most of those games are on Monarch, although that's fairly irrelevant except for lowering happiness and increasing research times (the players I play with regularly all find that games progress too quickly on Noble for us now). Many of the people I play against are exceptional civvers though, so that's always great practice which can be applied to kick ass on single player whenever I actually spare the time to play it.
I find Warlord easier on higher levels than plain vanilla version. The AI is not using GG effectively; Trebuchets make offensive wars in middle ages much faster; and Augustus Caesar is way overpowered.
