  • What level are people are playing at?

I find Monarch level the most enjoyable. I can win on Emperor level, but only on certain maps and with certain civs.

How do you people win at Immortal+ levels?

Prince, really trying to refine my game and make the move to Monarch though.

Currently figuring out again how to win safely on Emperor level after spending a bit too long on Monarch level. I'd say I've just about cracked it so that I can win with most civs with a half-decent start. Strangely, though, I don't seem to do exceptionally well if I get a very good start. So I'll probably stick with Emperor level for a bit until it becomes too easy.

With immortal level I don't think the play is markedly different. All that changes is that certain things become that little bit harder/impossible so that the strategy is a lot more basic and requires a more no-nonsense approach.

I made the move to Prince recently (in terms of number of games played, haven't played in a couple of months). If I can master Prince, I'll move up.

I play on Prince. I just like that one the best. I could beat Monarch, I'm sure, but I don't like it. Emperor... give me some time to adjust and I could win. Beyond that is likely beyond me.

Still playing on Noble here... or rather, have just begun to play again at Noble because previous to the game I finished yesterday I had not played Civ since March last year... I was struggling to learn the game and at some stage it proved too high a learning curve so I gave it a rest for a while, but from my experience over the last couple of days I would say that it was just me who went too fast ahead and did not think very much about overall strategic goals... once I started to do that (backed up by the Apolyton community who provided the necessary pointers) the challenge became fun rather than frustrating... Love this game!

Monarch is the toughest I've beaten, but I can definitely only do it under certain conditions. I find the biggest change is how fast the AI discovers Feudalism- that change from Archers to Longbows really determines my entire ability to wage war, until i advance from bronze age units. Monarch games are more exciting in that theyre very dynamic, but the cheapness of the AI bonuses really makes it less fun for me overall.

                    .

Monarch, but I slip back to prince every now and then to experiment with something new.

I've only beaten emperor twice, once with hapshepsut and once with genghis.
My other emperor attempts have been losses so far.

I think the biggest leap is from prince to monarch. Prince is usually a cake walk for me but I need a good start to beat monarch and even then it's not a sure thing. I probably win as many emp games as monarch so I don't think the difference in those to levels is as great.

I play Prince when I want a challenging game. I usually win, but it can be close. But recently I've enjoyed a lot of experimenting (GPP heavy game, wonder heavy, OCC). I usually play these at Noble so I can enjoy my experiment without having to resort to the brutish war tactics that make success possible at Prince.

Monarch still eludes me... Damn they build their defenses quickly...

I can manage Noble, but only with certain Civs and good starting conditions - my best luck has been with Lizzy.

Monarch. Once Monarch got too easy, I upgraded the AI so I could continue to play on Monarch.

I feel that I am most consistent at Prince, but "play" at the Monarch level to get better.
And, FWIW Warlords does drop me one level down.
