EVERY TIME. in fact thats the ONLY way ive ever beat prince level is to wipe them out before they get too powerful. im just quite frankly tired of doing that...The Apolytoner formerly known as Alexander01

I know that good players are able to beat difficulties as high as Monarch without fighting. Prince is surely beatable peacefully. In fact, the good thing about Civ4 is that you really don't have to do the same thing to win .Solver, WePlayCiv Co-Administrator

Hey, I'm not a great player myself. I am fairly comfortable at Prince, but that's with standard Civ4, not Blake's AI. But believe me, it's unfair to say that Civ4 only has one right way of doing things. It may be partially true for extreme difficulties (like Immortal or Deity), where it's my understanding you have to do some things, like early warfare, but those high levels are for a very small minority of players anyway.
From experience, I've won all sort of games on Prince. I've won games without warfare, where I stay on good terms with everyone, I've won games where I manage to leave everyone far behind in tech, I've won through Domination by massive warmongering. So it's quite possible .Solver, WePlayCiv Co-Administrator

an easy way to get better is post a series of screenshots and detail your early game. others will tell you how to improve.
if prince is too much of a challenge and noble is too easy, try playing a more difficult noble game, ie, raging barbarians, aggressive civs, non-ideal starting locations, and so on. apolyton university courses/tournaments, where everyone starts at the same location in the same map, is great for learning how to improve your game, because you get to see how all these different approachs work. maybe post one of those.

a great idea, and one i used to implement... BEFORE, when i was a GOOD player. AU is a good place for this, yet its attendence so far has been... QUITE dissapointing. I will post screenshots of my games soon, either on THIS thread or at AU... if nothing else to get a thread there going again.

Pertinent to the original post and thread title, it sounds like someone has found a way to get past their Civ burnout. This is the principle of solving one challenge by presenting a more difficult one.
This is an especially effective tactic if you don't let the person involved know the principle being applied.
Ooops.If you aren't confused,
You don't understand.
