        Because you don't need the gold, it's built on rubbish terrain and you can't be bothered to improve it, it's the holy city of a minor religion and you can't be bothered putting out the missionaries, it's a holy city wihtout a shrine and generating a great prophet will deviate from your game plan, you have selected the 'city flipping after conquest' option and will lose it to it's original owners if you don't raze it, you weren't interested in the gold but were interested in cutting off your opponents supply.
