  • Noble is a real challenge for me using the 2nd most recent patch. (I used to be able to beat Monarch 1/2 the time before 2.08) In my last game on a small pangaea with 6 AI Noble difficulty, Every civ went to war with me..At one point I was finishing up a long drawn out war with Izzy who had controlled 1/3rd of the Continent when Brennus and then a few turns later Monte declared war on me. Brennus nearly destroyed my capitol by going around the world and landing to large stacks on my lightly gaurded interior. One of my cities was razed and another captured but I was able to draft enough units to save myself.
Eventually I was able to get the upper hand and take cities from Monte...then Brennus got tanks and things got ugly. I lost a few of Izzys cities I had recently captured, and Brennus razed a few. Luckily I could out produce him and once again pushed him back.
Then when I had almost finished off Monte(who was between me and Brennus)...Monte joined the neutral Capec who automatically declared war on me. Luckily the Koreans who hadn't don much the whole time(but who I had fought a bit earlier) decalred war on Monte and Capec for some reason, which lessoned the blow.
Korea and I finished off Monte and I captured a few of Brennuss' cities, and then turned around to fight Capec...
In time I was able to destroy him even though he had fighters and Mech Inf. and get a domination win...
    What a game

      • Hey Blake. While you're at it, do you think you could add something to the auto-explore AI so that my Scouts move away from an enemy that they can clearly see instead of ending up right next to them? I don't know how many times I've seen them go from on top of a Hill right into the path of a Grizzzly Bear etc. that's clearly visible to them. By the end of the turn, they're Grizzly dinner or a Barb trophy. It would certainly extend the life of those units if you could manage it.

        • I downloaded the newest Blake Ai Mod from his SourceForge page but I'm really unsure where to put the CvGameCoreDLL.dll.

The release notes say put it in the CustomAssests Folder. But I can't find that folder anywhere! Could someone please kindly tell me exactly where I'm supposed to put the AI Mod?

          • The CustomAssets folder is, I believe, under My Documents\My Games\Warlords .

            • Another thing I'd like to see is a change to the Improve Nearest City Worker command so that it means only that city the Worker is nearest to at that particular moment. So if I want it to work Washington for example, it will only work that city and not go off to Boston and start working those tiles. I find this a handy automation command, but quite often I have to track down a Worker who's gone off somewhere else. I'd like it to just stay in that area and if there's nothing else to do, to just sit within the city centre. That way I'll always know where it is if I need it later.

              • So I've put it in My Documents/My Games/Warlords/CustomAssets.
I was looking in my C: Drive.

One more thing, is there anyway I can tell if Blakes Mod is running or not? Just to be sure I'm getting the goodness.

                • If you put into CustomAssets, it will always run.

Another indication is when you get your ass kicked .

                  • LOL

Oh well I guess I'll keep an eye out for the arse kicking part. This is the first time I've played with Blakes mod, I usually play on Noble or Prince. I hope it doesn't hurt too much. Otherwise I'll have to get nasty.

                    • The AI can really go for culture victory! The save below says all. It chose a wrong city for the "third big", though.

PS: there is also a bug in this save. If you don't stop the war between England and America, the game will crash in next turn. I have no idea what is the cause of that crash.

                      • To me it's simple, the Noble setting should simply mean no advantages for human or AI.
This also means that the AI doesn't badger me constantly for free tech or only offer ridiculous trades that are to it's advantage. It's like a casino- they'll only play if the game favors the house.
The AI leaders trade among one another, and I know they aren't accepting such one-sided deals.
You come in my palace, offering to give me Monotheism for Literature? Get the hell off my atrium!

It probably will. Playing the way I usually do on Noble, I was left behind in the dust tech wise a few times. I had to really change my way of doing things in order to keep up. I had to get alot more efficient and play smarter. And that was before the latest additions to the AI, the ones that were only in the patch. I haven't really tried the new changes yet.

Just remember, if the computer beats you, you can always beat it at kickboxing.

                          • Yeah... I normally play at Prince. I was pretty confident at it, but with the 2.08 changes it became very challenging. I haven't really tried the new changes either, but I'm sure I'll have to step down to Noble for those.

                            • Thanks for the save Risa, the crash is caused by aircraft.

Clearly Asoka was expecting you to pull your weight for the cultural victory! No just kidding, it looks like he was having some trouble developing a 3rd city. In fact many of his cities aren't being grown when they easily could be. I'll look into this and fix it. Thanks again for the save (I'd REALLY REALLY appreciate more save games from later in the game!!!!).

                              • What sort of save games are you looking for mainly? Ones where the AI is doing something particularly good or bad, or generally any saves?
