4 teams with no cooperative wins allowed would be best I think.

Regarding the slave AIs suggestion I made earlier, my thoughts were that it would be a good demonstration of Blake's AI. However, the game would be delayed until Blake implements all the improvements to the military AI.

4 teams it is. That makes roughly 4 members in each team at present.

Well I'm sure more people will show up once we've started. As long as we have enough people now, who are dedicated to keep going for a while, to keep things interesting it should be allright.

But we will need 4 team leaders, while we only have 2 right now.

Don't take this democracy thing too far!

Some incentive to diplomacy is needed so either two teams with some AI's or four teams without AI's.

It is a democracy game... But if we don´t get two more team captains we´ll have go with what we have.

Well to be honest I wouldn't really mind two teams either.

However there would be little diplomacy and lots of war. Also fun, of course, but not what most people would expect from a diplomacy game, I expect.

I guess the pertinent question is, are there any more Team Captains out there?

Please, not another one. Running multiple games stagnates them all.

I would like to echo the sentiments of Snoopy369 and others urging you all to wait. And to join in the DG already existing. DGs take not only an enormous amount of time, but an enormous amount of members if you are actually planning on finishing. Teams require at least one dedicated person involved on a turn-by-turn and diplo-by-diplo basis - ideally more than one if you want to have a real team rather than one person playing the game with some occasional advisors. And these active people are not going to last the whole game. If you start the game with 7 people, you may well end up with just 1 or 2 people actually available to discuss & play turns at the speed required for a decently paced demogame. Then these people get called away by increasing RL commitments, or simple burnout, and suddenly your team is dead in the water... I would go farther than Snoopy. 25 people won't cut it, not to finish a game, unless you have a very small number of teams (two would be a good number for that many total participants) and get some new blood in the middle. (I notice people here aren't so hot on joining C4DG after the start, and if that pattern holds, don't count on new members swelling your ranks. )

I'm sorry if I seem to be a joykill in advocating this, but please go give C4DG a chance first, if you are not already a member, before trying to start an entire new DG. I have sat on my tongue and watched previous DGs start up too soon like this. I did that for C3CDG, doing nothing but not joining in (on which I then pretty quickly gave in and joined) and watched the PTWDG II die in the aftermath. Perhaps it was not the only thing that killed PTWDG II - certainly there were some dropouts of DGs altogether at that time - but I do know that some of the dedicated players who were driving PTWDG II went to C3CDG and devoted their time to it instead; and few can contemplate, much less maintain, great activity in multiple teams. Heck, even before that, PTWDG II took a toll on PTWDG I; I think that game only finished with all teams onboard because the diehards remaining on the teams there had the drive to see it through the final lap and its wars, even though some teams were running as virtually a one or two man show.

Now we have another game starting up when I know my own C4DG team (Mercenary) has not nearly risen to what I would consider ideal number of active participants, and I observe at least one other team seeming to have trouble finding the highly active kinds of players able to play turns. There are plenty of good teams out there, and I personally think it's an interesting game.

As Snoopy369 says, C4DG is still in its infancy. Opening moves have been made, sure, but the game is still far from even the halfway point.

And trust me, it's not a silly idea... not only are there almost always teams in need of fresh blood as old members fade out, but on the same principle, I think you're either in for a surprise or incredibly devoted to Civ if you think you can last in a DG, actively checking in every turn, for the course of an entire game.

If you're worried about jumping into the middle, most teams I've been on are good about posting shots and summaries, making saves available, and generally making it as easy as possible to get into things. If it's not like that, just get active - kick someone into action getting information out to the team, or even pick up the job yourself.

I'd say try 100+ players for a 7 team game. Unless you have a far greater percentage of active members than the DGs I've been in.

Seriously though. Either both games became rather lackluster due to lack of members (I think the PTWDG/PTWDG II split was somewhat like that) or one game absolutely strangles the other (C3CDG/PTWDG II).
