  • I wonder if they're looking at this list for the next expansion...

Apparently there's a Swiss Foundation attempting to start up a vote for a new list of seven Wonders of the World.

Already in Civ 4 from that list are:

    Angkor Wat
    Chichen Itza
    Eiffel Tower
    Great Wall
    Hagia Sophia
    Kremlin/St.Basil's
    Pyramids
    Statue of Liberty
    Stonehenge
    Taj Mahal

Incidentally, the cities of Macchu Pichu and Timbuktu were on that list too.

    Here's the full list:

    *1 Acropolis, Athens, Greece*(Parthenon)
    2 Alhambra, Granada, Spain
    *3 Angkor Wat temple, Cambodia*
*4 Chichen Itza Maya site, Yucatan, Mexico*
5 Christ the Redeemer, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
    6 Colosseum, Rome
    7 Easter Island Statues, Chile
    *8 Eiffel Tower, Paris*
    *9 Great Wall, China*
*10 Hagia Sophia church, Istanbul, Turkey*
    11 Kyomizu Temple, Kyoto, Japan
    *12 Kremlin/St.Basil's, Moscow*
    13 Machu Picchu, Peru
    14 Neuschwanstein Castle, Fussen, Germany
    15 Petra ancient city, Jordan
    *16 Pyramids of Giza, Egypt*
*17 Statue of Liberty, New York*
    *18 Stonehenge, Amesbury, United Kingdom*
    19 Sydney Opera House, Australia
    *20 Taj Mahal, Agra, India*
*21 Timbuktu city, Mali*(University of Sankore)

    * Indicate Civ4 inclusion

Here's some ideas from my Expansion thread:

Temple of Heaven - must have a Temple, doubles its effectiveness?
Machu Picchu - must be next to mountain, increases science and culture in city by 25%?
    Inquisition - ?
    Alhambra - free monasteries?
Krak des Chevaliers - +50% defense, can bombard attacking enemies at location?
    Mausoleum
    East India Trading Company
Leonardo's Workshop (it's back!) - upgrades units! (maybe only in that city)
Statue of Zeus (not like in C3C)
Knights Templar (" " " ") - Trade bonuses? A bank in every city? Military?

Machu Pichu: +1 food from hill tiles in city (not empire).

Could help eliminate other religions from your empire, or give bonuses to your religion.

Should building an "Inquisition" really be a positive thing?!?

Positive? No. But something to "wonder" about? I think so. Maybe as a national "wonder."

And they should include Super Praetorians!!!!

I don't know why he saved my life. Maybe in those last moments he loved life more than he ever had before. Not just his life - anybody's life, my life. All he'd wanted were the same answers the rest of us want. Where did I come from? Where am I going? How long have I got? All I could do was sit there and watch him die.

A wonder that's on almost every list of major world wonders of the modern times, but never seems to make it into civ, are the Delta Works in the Netherlands.

But Sid Meier seems to hate us Dutchies anyway. We never make it into the series in any way ;-(

Guess we can count out "Christ the Redeemer" unless we're going to have wonders start relying on certain religions being in the city before it can be built.

Not only did the Dutch make it into Conquests, they were pretty hardcore! Agricultural (overpowered trait)/Seafaring, with a strong defensive UU (sorta meh, IMO, but had its uses).

The trick isn't to break some eggs to make an omelette, it's convincing the eggs to break themselves in order to aspire to omelettehood.

I really thought they could do better than Swiss Mercenary though. Everybody in Europe had Swiss mercs at one point or another. The Dutch should have a naval unit, like the Fluyt, or something.

Valid points, but I think Christ the Redeemer is a step beyond those wonders being a direct representation of a holy figure as opposed to structures of worship for a religion as a whole.

On the other hand, it could be a third giant statue you could put in a city with the Statue of Liberty and The Colossus.
