  • What just happened?

I moved a scout and my computer froze, including the curser. Then my computer restarted. I highly doubt tht it is my graphics settings because I have had these settings for some time with few problems, plus I just got a better graphics card.

Are you on a laptop? That happens to me when it overheats. (And that's why I use a fan under my laptop.)

In fact, that you just got a new card makes this more likely. It's probably running hotter (since it's more powerful).

It's not a laptop, but seems like possible reson.

Did you plug in that second cable to the graphics card?

Have you updated your video drivers? Are you using an ATI card? ATI is notorious for crappy drivers. I get that sometimes with mine, on various games. It usually doesn't reboot the machine, though sometimes it does. Normally it just locks up so I have to reboot it myself.

Really? Perhaps among a few nVidia-users, but otherwise ATI has had half of the gaming market for quite some time now which would hardly be the case if the drivers were so crappy. Some games run better on some cards but on the whole nVidia has just as many problems as ATI cards.

ATI only has 25-30% of the video card market.

Still quite an achievement for a company with crappy drivers IMO... :-)

And as I started to get interested in the numbers I googled a bit and found that your figures refer to the total market shares for integrated+standalone graphics, a market where ATI has the lead over nVidia, and both lose out to Intel with their huge sales of integrated cards but we probably all agree those are not for gamers.

In the standalone GPU desktop segment, which is where graphics cards for gamers are found, nVidia has a slight lead over ATI with 51.5 to 47.9 % of the market.

I admit, I save just before declaring war. . But I don't think I've ever had to reload. I only save just in case they bring in 4 of their friends into the war against me.
