Call To Power 2 Cradle 3+ mod in progress: https://apolyton.net/forum/other-games/call-to-power-2/ctp2-creation/9437883-making-cradle-3-fully-compatible-with-the-apolyton-edition
Are you sure about that? A CR3 trebuchet against a city garrison II fortified longbowman is at a disadvantage (11 vs. 11.7).
I don't understand your math, at all.
CR3 Trebuchet has +175% against cities.
CG2 Longbow has +95% defense in (non-hill) city.
Result is 4 vs 6/(1+1.75-0.95) = 4 vs 3.33.
A definite advantage for the Trebuchet.
Also, if you have trebuchets it's not unreasonable to assume that the defender has castles so more time would be needed to reduce the defecnes.
Nope. It takes 4 rounds of bombardment for trebuchets to reduce the city defense to zero, no matter what value it starts at. Walls and castles don't make you any more resistant to bombardment (which is why they are pretty useless once siege weapons become available).
Castles give more defense, hence possibly more time needed to bombard.
Comparing a CR3 Trebuchet with a CG2 Longbowman is not fair. If you want to compare, use the same number of promotions. CR2 Trebuchets and CG2 Longbowmen are possible upon production. A CR3 Trebuchet isn't easy to get, you can't make one, you need to win battles with it. And survive. I don't exactly see how you're going to create a whole stack of those unless you're facing an Ancient enemy.

Could you (or anyone) point me to a thread that explains this back-ass way of doing combat calculations? Everyone seems to know the non-intuitive ways that Civ does combat calculations, but I can’t seem to find it explained anywhere.
Trebuchets are very very groovy, unless there is a stack of them parked outside your city of course.
I don't know why he saved my life. Maybe in those last moments he loved life more than he ever had before. Not just his life - anybody's life, my life. All he'd wanted were the same answers the rest of us want. Where did I come from? Where am I going? How long have I got? All I could do was sit there and watch him die.
Warlords isn't bad.
There are new features
like vassals
and unique buildings
but overall it doesn't offer a great deal
over the original game.
This isn't surprising
given how hard it is
to do x-packs
for Civ games.
