  • My precious, precious earth maps!

Noooooo... My earth maps (in fact all scenarios other than the Warlords scenarios) have disappeared with the installation of the expansion pack.

I'm assuming the old scenarios are no longer compatible? Sigh... Here's to hoping that someone in the modding community figures out how to bring the earth maps back. :-(

unless they use custom python or DLL code, its most likely just a matter of copying the worldbuilder save into the warlords publicmaps folder, and changeing the fileending to a warlords worldbuilder save

Yes. There is a directory change which requires this. All mods and customized files must be moved into the Warlords directory relative to their previous Civ IV positions (slight tweaks may be required in the coding due to references which may need to be changed). I am doing so now with Diplomacy Text syntax fixes. Sigh ...
One of these days I'll make 501 posts, and you won't have to look at my silly little diplomat anymore.

Does anyone have plans to make a new earth map scenario incorporating the new civs?

            Hehehe, you're right.

Stick them right above England, maybe?

The city list is based on the Hallstatt/La Tene culture throughout Europe -- from Turkey to Ireland, from Scotland to Spain -- so the Alps I guess (though the capital is in Southern France).

Either way, it would get awfully crowded...

I suppose it would, at that. They'd have to go in Gaul, with a leader like Brennus. If another expansion gave them a 2nd leader from a different tribe, then they could go in Ireland or Scotland.

I'm currently trying to port the Earth18Civ map that came with Vanilla Civ4 to Warlords, this is a touch more complicated than I thought as it seems to screw things up a little bit. i.e. loss of interface/misplaced start locations

Heres the method I've been using so far to get the right version:

                    1. open up Warlords start a random game
                    2. enter into the Worldbuilder save the file
                    3. exit civ4
                    4. delete the text in to Warlords wb save using Wordpad
                    5. paste in the text from Earth18Civ map

It works, however I'm having problems as mentioned above, any solutions to the problem please let me know, right now I'm just trying to figure out what exactly is causing the loss of interface and misplaced starting locales.

NOTE: The Celts are known as Celtia? Not much of a history buff so I didn't know that. so in the Wb file I'm guessing it should say, LEADER_BRENNUS CIVILIZATION_CELTIA?

Edit: (for those who are "in the know" and have manually editted WB files before knows the proper way to type in the new leaders into the WB file please let me know, right now I'm guessing. i.e. LEADER_MEHMED_II CIVILIZATION_OTTOMAN.
As long as people believe in absurdities they will continue to commit
                    atrocities.

Alternatively, change the extension of the Earth18Civ map from .CivWorldBuilderSave to .CivWarlordsWBSave

They're called CIVILIZATION_CELT in my version but I'm using an old beta, I'm yet to update to the latest version, so it may have been changed. Whatever is listed in Assets/XML/Civilizations/CIV4CivilizationInfos.xml is what you should use.

Rhye released a 24 civ version of the map btw..:
http://forums.civfanatics.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=175 This map features my Earth with all the 24 civs in Warlords. This time it is a mod, because it contains a modded DLL that allows 24 civs, and a different Celtic city names order (There was no room for Bibracte, too close to Paris...
