  • Global Warming?

In the late game this really bugs me. Is is it caused by anything (if so is there any way to stop it) or does it just start happening in the late game? The strange thing is that whenever it start happening I have already built The Three Gorges Dam.

Global warming starts after firing the first nuke, the more nukes the worse it gets

Is it really nuke related? I'm pretty sure I've had global warming in at least one of my games without any nuclear conflicts -- prior to fission actually, IIRC.

I'm not 100% sure, but I've only had global warming in one game, and that was the only game where I fired a few nukes. In all other games there has been no global warming

The odds of global warming occuring on any tile at the beginning of any turn is zero. Until the first nuke is used. After that those odds increase every time a nuclear weapon is used.

I don't know if it's like this since the last patch, but I know that myself and others have experienced global warming when no nukes have been fired.

I guess nobody thought of the idea to make it pollution related...

Nuclear Meltdowns also cause global warming, the AI will build nuclear plants...

I've never had global warming in my games (they never get to that late a stage more often than not), but wow, way to go and remove proper cause and effect!

I have had global warming in games where no nukes have been used. It is rare, and it all occasions when I got it was around cities that produced a lot of pollution (with coal plants, airports, laboratories, drydocks, etc). It is a rare event, and I have only seen it in a handful of games, none of which had seen any nukes go off.

Can you bomb a nuclear plant to cause a meltdown?

Sure, Prussia. We all know how you can attack specific buildings in the game.
                        NOT!!
                        This is Civ4, not Civ3.

According to the manual the global warming effect is related to detonating nukes. The more your fire the more global warming you will have.

Once I too had not fired any nukes and yet I got global warming, but in the end it turned out that my closest ally had fired a nuke after I gave her all the techs. That really sucked.

Thank goodness, for that is what spoilt the previous games.

I guess I'm still thinking like an old civver...
Nukes always make me think Civ 3, for some reason.
