As a warmonger I'd say Shaka, however I wouldn't know as the xp has not actually been released yet!

Won't really know till I have actually played the XP!

Personally i can't wait for the VIKINGS , can't wait for beserkers (and yes it is spelt with an S).

Also with a third R, i.e., beRserkers. Also looking forward to trying out a raider civ.

(Understand one of the scenarios is to play as the barbarians with the goal of destroying everything. Sounds like a refreshing change for us builders. )

Carthage is ALSO an African civ...

Now we just need more American (especially South American) civs to fill out the Earth map. Not that Incas really need more penalties...

As to the original question, I prefer Mansa. Shaka will be great for fighting horsemen. Maybe even Knights. But I just don't think his UU will be all that useful. The UB is debateable to me as well. We'll see though.

Carthage is also Mediterranean. Just because a country is in Africa does mean it is Arican in the cultural sence.

Nah... If I look at the map of Africa, I see Egypt there! It is African civ.

IMO out of the four African civs, the strongest seems to Carthage.

Cartage and Eygpt (Cartage more than Egypt) are both considered Greco-Roman. (by Greco-Roman I mean a nation that is on or near the Mediterranean that put much effort into science and arcitecture in the Classical or ancient times, and had a society simalar to the Greeks or Romans.) I consider the US Western European since an american civ would be Native or Meso American. So if Geography trumps culture wouldn't Russia be Asian instead of Eastern European since most of Russia is in Asia.

Mansa Musa has my favorite UU, 33% more strength and an additional first strike is great for early takeovers. If only he had Aggressive instead of Spiratual he'd be the best leader IMO. And his UU can be built very early, doesn't have to wait anywhere near as long as Mongolia.

However on a different point, Egypt is much more Africian like (though I'd say more Middle Eastern) then Russia is Asian.
