Well, I had occasion to use two Civ quotes over the American (4th of July) holiday.
1] In one conversation with a guy who just finished an advanced degree from a divinity school, I paraphrased (giving credit to "somebody") that "I have difficulty believing that a God who endowed us with logic and reason would have us forego their use." We were talking about Intelligent Design and Evolution.
2] The other one was just a sign I saw a protester holding. It said (again, paraphrasing) that "He who sacrifices freedom for security deserves neither..." but the sign ended. I quickly added in my mind: "...and will lose both." I don't know if these are a mixture of two quotes, but Civ has it that way, so that's how I remembered it.
I was also thinking about North Korea's launching its missiles and how the diplomacy text should read "Your recent activity suggests you are preparing for war! -4"
So, there you have it. Civ has made me smarter (or just more like a parrot, but I prefer 'smarter'). When the wife complains that I'm "playing" Civ 4 too much, I'm confident now in saying "I'm studying Civ 4, sweetheart, studying."
Do you guys have moments like this?
