  • Rush Build Costs

    Have the Rush Build Costs gone up in the new patch? I know the Kremlin assist has been reduced, but still the costs seem to have gone up.

    The reason I ask is that I had to build the Space Elevator on a small island due to the 30 degree limit. I first applied a Great Engineer and had approximately 2200 hammers to go (playing on Epic). I checked the rush build costs and they were an astounding 17890! I had never before seen anything like that until this game. The most I had ever seen was on the order of 5-6000.

    It's more expensive on the first turn.

      That value seems incredibly high. I just rushed it in my current game for under 5000 on the first turn without any GE. This was pre-patch. It seems as if the cost has gone up. (It may only be for the elevator though).

        No doubt.

        But it remain just as expensive turn to turn, with small decreases due to the three or four hammers from the island itself.

        Is there a formula for calculating the cost for completion of a wonder? If it is like it was in Alpha Centauri, it would be 4 coins for each hammer. But that would make the cost of 2200 hammers on the order of 8000, not 18,000.

        But it just seems to me that something is radically different in this patch.

          Even if you have already part built via a GE?

                I don't think so, at least with my example of the Space Elevator. The costs remained practically the same from first turn to tenth.

                BTW, I checked the costs last night to complete the Space Elevator when I had only 220 hammers or so left. 3000. At this time, the Kremlin was "obsolete." That is approximately 12 coins for each hammer. With the Kremlin, it was 8.

                Regardless, I think the rush costs for completion of at least this SP have trippled in the new patch.

                  I have seen ones in excess of 35K... (first turn though)

                    Which patch? What game speed?

                      Rush cost of a 'normal' building is 3x hammers;
                      of a world or national wonder it's 6x hammers;
                      on first turn of construction, multiply by 1.5

                      These were at marathon speed, v1.61. I don't believe that rush costs change with game speed, since original costs do the changing.

                        Jaybe, As you can see, I am experiencing at least double the "official" numbers you quote.

                        Something is wrong.

                          The rush prices I gave were on Industrial era wonders or earlier. I haven't advanced to Space Elevator tech yet; its factors may be higher with me also.
                          I'll be there by the weekend -- I'm in a period of warfare, so turns are taking some time (it's a huge map).

                            Well if Rush costs change with era's, that's a first.

                              i had game last night where i wanted to build the space elevator. marathon, large (i think) and the cost was over 200000k +

                              the build time was initially ~60 turns.
                              at the point where i had 14 turns left i rushed it for 11500.
