I noticed something in a new game I was playing. Incans somehow have twice the military power of any other civilization, yet they're only 3rd (out of 16) place on score. And you move the curoser over, it says what the score is made up of, and military isn't one of those things.

Not my example, I was responding to his example, so don't criticise me for using it.

Well why don't the advisors simply say that "this civ is way behind us in x and x" or "this civ is way ahead of us in x and x"?
Hmmm, maybe because there don't actually appear to be advisors in Civ IV.

VJ: I don't think anyone has anything against an option. We do however, have something against the way he advocates his views. I for one would be fine with an option, but I reserve my right to have the option turned on.

It does, but some people use ways to bypass that.

And just because I don't like that, and because I don't like people attacking new members, Kuci can go out and enjoy the nice spring weather for a week.

Each to his own, but I like score watching especially in multiplayer.

The power, mfg goods and crop yield graphs are much more revealing, but fortunetly for you easier to avoid seeing.

                Oh lardy dar?!

Arnt you a big girl, what didnt you like about my orginal post the way i made SOME words capitol?

So that was enough to roll in the welcoming carpet and start spitting was it? Do me a favour and stop trying to make your boring day exciting by turning a computer gamer thread into a political argument or an attempt to try and feel important.

                - Perhaps in your defence this was not the place to put a little rant, and maybe you though i was a Civ hater or something.
Well im not, been a fan since 2 took half my teen years away!

Anyway back to the grown up replies...
                (thanks to those that did)

I agree there is some degree of scale or success needed to gauge your strenght over another civ, but I really think it should be observational only? Through looking at units and perhaps something been discovered when capturing a city. For example I dont know why we can not gain a tech when capturing a city? the knowlege and buildings are they arnt they? And have we not learnt from opponents through war in the past? Perhaps an occasional tech discovery when a city is taken over or somehthing with some vague maps of their civ also found?

                That would make sense right?

I'm not going to bite on that.

To your point: I agree that a certain % chance for getting a tech, something like the old Civs, would be fine. It would absolutely make sense in my view.

infact heres an idea, the score gets revealed later in game? say when satalites are up we are in the modern era to really know whats going on? not from the birth of a civ?

ok peace it is then, open borders?

and Yeah it would maek sense, its almost daft to assume you could take a civ out without gaining any of their techs?

Satelites is a bit late, the game is mostly over by that time anyway. If it were to be revealed at a later time, I think it should come no later than during the medieval times, perhaps even earlier. But an idea could be to let it become more detailed and accurate as time goes by and your civ gets more advanced.

Nail on the head, that would be perfect.

It could start with what we see and hear from our allies exmaple the spanish have been spoted with an army using something called gunpower?"

                            etc etc
