The combat system is kind of trench warfare. I wish it was a little more dynamic. Wars lasting 1000 years or more seem rediculous.
Its to bad you can't siege a city. If you could there would be some need to attack out or attack into the beseigers.
A simple way to do this is would be once you reduced the city defense bonus to 0, then all units in the city would start taking colateral damage and you could walk into the city in 4-6 turns easily. This would motivate people to attack the attackers. It might make the game a little more interesting.
Another minor annoyance is after you capture a city, all the improvements are gone. Which means generally unless the city is in a great place you will want to raize it. Not keep it.
