"Zhou, an ancient warrior and dynastic founder, really liked bacon."
The greatest delight for man is to inflict defeat on his enemies, to drive them before him, to see those dear to them with their faces bathed in tears, to bestride their horses, to crush in his arms their daughters and wives.
I had a situation once where I was so close to the germans that they had to move away to found their capital (like in this example.) I tried to hit him with my starting warrior but it would not go my way even with multiple reloads (I play with new random seed.)
I killed off an AI within the first 10 turns in a recent game... they do have a habit of leaving the capital unprotected while they explore... but so do we all. I think there's likely some small code somewhere that says not to attack anyone within the first xx turns, else we'd never be able to leave our city with the starting unit...
Playing 16 Civs on a large / terra / prince map I once managed to knock out three civs with my first warrior -- the first two home cities were empty, while the third had a sole warrior I beat w/ 40% odds.
It's not too difficult to get at least one -- you're more than likely to run across someone, especially following the coast from your starting location, moreso if you have 14+ Civs.
