I went through the tutorial last night and then started a game of my own on warlord level. (my first civ4 game). I think I got some of basics down and I understand things a bit better through playing it. I can't really give an opinion on the game having not finished one yet, but it looks good....because it drew me into that "Just one more turn" thing and I ended up staying up past midnight, oversleeping and being late to work! Anyway, here are my N00b questions:
I haven't finished the game yet, (huge map, epic length) but so far its 1702 I believe and I haven't been in one conflict. Thats fine, I like that, but I thought the AI would be a bit more agressive. Is Warlord a very easy level? Should I try the next one up? If things are too easy I get bored. I share a continent with the persians and other than a few idle threats they haven't done anything.
Does founding a religion get you anything? I founded hinduism but other than messages syaing that its spread to my cities, I don't see what it gets me. (The persians share my religion so maybe thats why they're not attacking me?)Actually I thin I accidentally founded Taoism in one of my cities also, but I used my missionary guy to convert them. That brings up another question...can you found two or more religions?
I've built several wonders but I don't even know what they do half of the time. In civIII I would build wonders I didn't even want as a denial strategy for the AI civs. It looks like the wonders in CivIV aren't as important (which is good....I wouldn't like it if any one wonder was a game breaker).
I've read that some people have had bad relations with the japanese, the indians, kathy, monty and a few other AIs. As I said none have attacked me, but I have gotten a few demands for gold or to stop trading with such and such messages. I suppose that there are variables but are there any AI's that are just bad news from the get go? I always knew who they were in civ III (Civ III, if I was next to the persians for example, my goal in life was to wipe them out before they built immortals)
sorry for the noobish questions, I'm just curious.
