I blitzkrieged two civs once, in the Modern age. Took out Egypt in 9 turns, then Arabia in a similar timespan. Woo, mass bombings + tanks, and do that from two directions.

Tried that once, the 1-pop city was empty, I declared war, moved into an adjacent tile. The next turn they had two warriors defending. And no, they didn't come from beyond my field of vision.
A warrior of mine was guarding a pass. He was on a tile where ocean was to one side and impassible peaks were on the other. So nothing should be able to get past me without me knowing, right?
Mysteriously, an Indian settler and warrior materialised behind me and founded a city, kicking my warrior out in the process (we didn't have Open Borders).

I started one where I was three tiles away from the german starter-stack. I moved one closer and founded the city, making him move his to a forested tile. I moved my warrior over there and he built a warrior in one turn.
The starting posistion was bad so I did not bother to play on.

Sounds like a slingshot to a second super city
You need 4 to be quite sure to get an AI capitol defended by 2 archers ... that means something like 70 turns in marathon
