I'm not sure that any route will have 100% success.
With regards the temples for Spiritual, I rather think they have low impact on a slingshot attempt. The reason being that your shot at an early religion is likely to be 50:50 at best so they won't come into play until CoL.
On Financial v Org, I will continue to defend this choice since, if you select a civilisation, you won't actually know the terrain until you see the place. Chances are that your initial position (or second city) will have those 2 commerce tiles so the financial civ will always be able to match organised civ in a pre-slingshot world. At the very least financial will get +1 gold to offset any cost (that would be saved by an organised civ). There could always be more and it is also possible that the library multiplier increases this by more. And if that 2 commerce tile is in the capital the financial tech will be driven forward at an early stage in the slingshot.
