    Best UU is the Praetorian.
That is very true. These units can decide the game on a map with lots of civs and on epic or marathon.

The worst UU in my eyes are the quesha and war chariot.

        I stand by my statement.

Although Urban Ranger makes a very valid point. It depends on Civ density a bit also. Those Praetorians aren't going to do anyone any damn bit of good if they are alone on an island or small continent, but if you're surrounded they might help give you some breathing room.

All the above explanation does is provide them with a little more usefulness, but it doesn't take anything away from the lameness of their eventual obsolescence.

So lets discuss the ability to upgrade your 'uniques' through the ages.

How about an upgrade tree that allows that Praetorian to retain it's usefulness right to the modern age.

Who wouldn't want 'Praetorian Shock Infantry'

        What about a 'Jaguar Gunship?'

Doesn't the idea of a 'Cho-Ku No Artillery' sound appealing?

Am I the only one that see's this as a cool opportunity to make every Civ's UU more than just a limited prospect?

I'm not suggesting the units grow in power every age, maybe they should just keep their special abilities, anything that extends their value.

edit> on a side note, does anyone really continue to build explorers in late games? Why doesn't that unit voluntarily obsolete itself off the build tree after a certain era?

..there are known ‘knowns’ There are things we know that we know. There are known unknowns. That is to say there are things that we now know we don't know. But there are also unknown unknowns. There are things we don't know we don't know. ~~Donald Rumsfeld

Play on an island map and all early UU's are a waste of time.

They are a good unit after the cost decrease, but the Aztec UU feels kinda 'blah' to me...I feel like it needs some other bonus to make up for the 5 strength, like Shock.
