Does anybody else think this would make for a really interesting civ to play, and does anybody else suspect this combination was left out on purpose?

As far as two traits feeding off one another, it's hard to imagine a more striking example. You build wonders in half the time, giving you not only more wonders, but more time for them to be accumulating GPP, which are, incidentally, being generated at double the normal rate. Completing the circle, GP can be used to get a jump on wonder-enabling techs and, if necessary, to finish or contribute to the wonders. And oh, by the way, you get half-price forges and universities to boot. While the vertical growth potential is boundless, this civ seems like it would be adaptable to a wide range of strategies.

"You are one of the cheerleaders for this wasting of time and the wasting of lives. Do you feel any remorse for having contributed to this "culture of death?" Of course not. Hey, let's all play MORE games, and ignore all the really productive things to do with our lives.
Let's pretend to be shocked that a gamer might descend into deeper depression, as his gamer "buds," knowing he was killing himself, couldn't figure out how to call 911 themselves for him. That would have involved leaving their computers I guess."

          Get out more?

(of *course* the sky is blue -- I was responding to obvious questions with another obvious question. Maybe I should have asked "Is water wet?" since you 2 seem to think weather changes the color of the sky)

The sky above my computer usually seems to be white, although it does seem to darken at night. I've never looked up and seen blue!

I bet you'll see one such leader in expansion.

Which civ do you suppose was Industrious and Philosophical?

Hard working people simply do not have time to love wisdom. The traits are mutually exclusive for good reason.

All CIV traits can be found and edited in a file named:

                      CIV4LeaderHeadInfos.xml

It can be edited with notepad and is fairly easy to figure out. You can give any civ, any traits you wish.

You can also press CTRL+W and give yourself 20 mechanized infantry in the ancient era.

I wonder why no one does this....

If they were to stick in a Philisophical/ Industrious Civ it could have been the Chinese or the Greeks I think. Perhaps the Babylonians would do?

I do think it would be a bit of a too powerful synergy though.

Yes because changing what traits you want is exactly the same as just giving yourself a sh*t load of units and every tech.

Although I admit spending 5 min before declaring yourself the winner and saving yourself the 3-6 hours of game play might be a good idea.

Anyway the OP's thread has been jacked enough as it is. There are some of us who want to play with trait combo's that don't exist before the $30 expansion thank you very much.

                            Roosevelt Phi/Ind Mod

This mod just changes Roosevelts Org trait with Phi. Just put the XML folder in your custom assets folder (for mods) which is usually located here.

It is just an assumption that Phi/Ind combo was left out because it is too powerful. If Fin/Org was left out people would probably make the same assumption about it. I’d be surprised if Phi/Ind didn’t show up as a trait combo in the expansion. It would be nice if Sirian or someone from Firaxis could state that Phi/Ind was left out due to balance issues if that is the case.
