On a related note, artillery is called a "great middle game siege weapon" or something.

Yeah, I know, but a middle game weapon? They don't come into play before pretty late in the tech tree, somewhere after the industrialization.

weren't cannons made out of iron. There's a difference between iron and steel.

simply put. cannons come way too late. And for that matter military tradition comes way to early.

I have a feeling they are coming in an expansion pack. . Yeah it's annoying to have to buy an expansion pack to get the units that should be in the regular game. But then how could they justify selling 1 or 2 expansion packs?

they were made out of Bronze, prior to steel - but yes they do come too late.

If we're buying em, they will be selling em How many versions of Civ3 are there? Civ 3, Civ 3 PTW, Civ 3 Conquests, Civ 3 Gold.... Various intermediate patches, did I forget anything? There were even more expansions and scenario packs on Civ2 IIRC.

That is indeeed the most glaring gap.

The second most glaring is that the Calvary adviable there is too early, something only requiring Military Tradition & Gunpowder should be Dragoons, maybe a rating of 12 with a bonus against catapults.

15 strength Calvary should require Rifing + Military Tradition.

Cavalry did not exactly rely on accurate firepower. Instead, they rely on shock value (that's why they should have a hefty penalty against fortifications). Indeed, AFAIK, the Cossacks had appeared before rifling came on the scene.
