    "Inconceivable!"

In fact, this thread brings to mind an idea I had for a MOD. I'm going to put it together next week, probably. Shall I give it away now? Let's just say, "... I don't believe they exist."
One of these days I'll make 501 posts, and you won't have to look at my silly little diplomat anymore.
"Oh my God, what a fabulous room. Are all these your guitars?"

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

In Civ 1 I once managed to conquer not only Asia but the entire world by 1100 BC. Earth map, I played the Mongols of course. Stopped all research after I could build triremes and chariots, and just rolled all over everyone.

In that game if you started really close to another civ both civs got two initial settlers; the AI would always use both to build a size 2 capital, so you could use one of your own settlers to walk over there and conquer his capital before he could build a defensive unit, effectively giving you THREE cities (and one less rival) in a matter of just a few turns. After that it was all over, really.

          Settlers were attack units?

Can't really recall if they could attack other units, but they could walk right into undefended cities anyway. And since the AI would have used both his settlers to build a size 2 city you could take that and still have a size 1 city left over after the "victory celebration". Plus the victorious settler, of course.

They were normal units, could attack, only had strength of 1 or so.
I've allways wanted to play "Russ Meyer's Civilization"

                A:0, D:1, IIRC.

If they had attack 1, you could have used them to attack warriors (A:1, D:1).

The tips are all deadly serious and apply not just to civ but to life in general.

I played Risk recently and found myself having to own Asia and one other continent. Obviously I lost.

                  regards,

                  Peter

I miss the militia. They looked like guys in black t-shirts.

It's not Danny DeVito, it's Wallace Shawn.

                      EXCELLENT flick, though.

Actually the lines of dialogue are exchanged between Billy Crystal (as Miracle Max) and Andre the Giant--since we're being precise about it:
"Beat it, or I'll call the brut squad."
                        "I'm on the brut squad."
                        "You are the brut squad."

                        Sorry for the nit pick.

                          Let me nit pick too...

"brut" is either a type of champagne or a brand name of cologne, "brute" is the word you are looking for...

                              Touché, to you both.

I love this kind of precision.
