  • How do you use Missonaries?

How do you use them? Well I used them before but for some reason I can't now.

One of my new cities converted to Judism, (i have budism in my main capital) I sent a Missonary to my new city but I didn't have any buttons to conver or spread my religon to my new city. why couldn't I?

I tried to send it to anthour city but it got destroyed by barbarians, so now i have to make a new missonary and warrior to defend him.

So why couldn't I spread my religon to my new city? I was able to do it in anthour game when it had no religon. Is it because once there is a religon there you can't do anything to it? I thought you were able to give it multiple religons, like my 2nd city first had budism, but now it has judism as well. how can i take the judism out of my second city?

merry christmas and thanks for your help

If you are using the 'Theocracy' civic only your state religion can be spread.

You cannot remove a religion from a city.

mounted units make better escorts for missionaries or settlers, due to movement rate

Catapaults make better units to damage defences, due to their bombard ability.

I just started, so I never got a chance to get to Therocracy, so I don't think that was the problem.

I have no horses, so mounted units are out of the question right now.

              Thanks for the help though.

If your city already has Buddhism, you can't spread it there.

BTW you may not want to spread Buddhism unless you are the founder.

Yeah I was the founder, and thought I could get rid of Judism, but I guess I can't do so.

Can I do it to my city that has no religon?

I will never understand why some people on Apolyton find you so clever. You're predictable, mundane, and a google-whore and the most observant of us all know this. Your battles of "wits" rely on obscurity and whenever you fail to find something sufficiently obscure, like this, you just act like a 5 year old. Congratulations, molly.

                      Yolky:

Your first message is confusing. I think you mean you have a city that got Judism. You sent a Budhist missionary there.

You should have had an option button light up to add the religion. Each religion already present causes a 1/7 chance of failure to convert additive. No religion is a 100% guarantee. Understand you must wait one turn to use the ability if you are out of movement points.
And of course do not have Theocracy unless it is your own religion. plus you cannot rid a city of an unwanted religion already present. You can add more though, but the chance for failure increases.

A small mistake is make sure you did convert to Budhism as your State religion. You can have/found a religion and still be a 'pagan' state religion. N00bs sometimes forget to convert to the state religion you founded!

yeah i know i can't explain myself sometimes, sorry. I have founded the religon, forgot what now, confused myself because of all the holidays but for now lets say judism.

my second city had judism but then budism became part of the religon, so i sent a missionary there but had no buttons at all except for movement and disband when the missonary was beside my second city. I thought at least if I couldn't convert or do anything to the city at least the buttons would be there but dimmed out like my workers do when I havn't discovered the tech.

Could it be because I made my missonary without the judism temple?

Well starting a new game since the huge earth game is running slow on my computer and going to go and try a standard map to see if things speed up.

Thanks for all your help and tips, will put them to good use.

thar be your problem. the option for spreading religion only shows up when you are in the city tile, not beside it.

Your state religion is Judaism, and your second city has bbuddhism, but not judaism.. Is that correct?

I went back to my game, but just resaved it with anthour game, arrh.

well I founded budism, that is in my capitol. my second city didn't have any religon and then on the next turn it had judism.

10 turns later I sent a missonary out to the second city to see if I can convert it to budism but when my missionary was beside the city it had no options to do anything, then the next turn I put it in the city and it still had no options to do anything.

I don't even know how to make my state religon, i thought it was the one I founded. Can you make a state religon without even founding it?
