True, but there are some nice (mostly pagan) traditions like decorating the tree, lighting candles, and exchanging gifts that never seem to go out of fashion, though the consumerism has gotten out of control. And the plentiful amount of time set aside to reflect, read, and play games (especially Civ) has been a tradition in my family.
