  • N00b question: how do I use pop rush?

Can't find it on the city screen.

So how do you do it?

    TIA

so have we argued the merits of pop rushing yet? I'm still not convinced it's worth it. Unless you are under attack and need troops in a hurry.

Actually, I found it to be pretty nice when my cities are flourishing in population, but have sucky production.

Pop-rushing is widely considered as being great on medium and lower difficulties. On Emperor+ difficulty, well you need to use pop-rushing very sparingly and you better know what you are doing.

Best use of pop-rushing imo is to create an axeman army very quickly. Take a size 4 city, build an axeman to 6/35 hammers, rush him, wait a turn or two to get around 6/35 hammers, rush again and keep repeating until you are at size 1, then grow, once you get to size 2, rush another axeman, should get about 5 axeman in under 10 turns.

You'll run out of gold to support the army as soon as it leaves your borders with all your size 1 cities, fluke.
I find pop-rushing quite useful for those large seafood cities that do little except feed themselves.

I find the Pop-rush to be wonderful for building health-boosting city improvements, especially when the city already has health problems. At one stroke, the health problems are reduced in two ways - there's fewer people to be unhealthy, and the city has a shiny new improvement that boosts the health of the people that are left.
None, Sedentary, Roving, Restless, Raging ... damn, is that all? Where's the "massive waves of barbarians that can wipe out your civilisation" setting?

Inside the city screen or outside? I found a button with a tool tip that said "Need 9 (max avail: 4)" and was greyed out in the city screen to the left of the "rush buy" button. Is that it?

Pah, why would it need 9 pop points to complete a Settler? That's what threw me off.

30 production per point of population. Gold hurry is 3 gold per production. Moddible too. (GameInfo\CIV4HurryInfo.xml)
