Aye, I was just playing a game where I had a high-food continent (Thanks to Clearcutting every forest that wasn't Tundra), and I was keeping my cities at their Healthycap and Happycap. I'd have to manually do the Emphasise food / Stall growth thing whenver I hooked up a new resource or built a health/happy building

Interesting. I hadn't realized that such a great boost in pop could be gotten from the fishes. I had been making sure I get the land resources when I place cities and only considered the fish as a bonus.
I'll have to reconsider my city placement.
.......shhhhhh......I'm lurking.......proud to have been stuck at settler for six years.......

Yes, why? Who else could I be, when the orange is Catherine and I don't have Ceasar's map (at least I believe that's Ceasar with purple or whatever colour that is).

Ah yes, there are also some left-over cities on my north and south (light-blue, probably Cyrus)

I am not a big fun of the new civ colours. Maybe it's just my computer, but for me the colors on the map don't mach those listed on the right side of the screen (the clickable, color score links)

You can actually see that to West and East from the city the borders expend three tiles. It is only North where the borders expend only two tiles because of the ocean (or because of the ice, maybe)

This game was fun as I ran almost broke from conquering too many cities too early What could I do?Cirrus was getting on my nerves, always settling one or two turns before me on my designated city spots!

Have you noticed that the AI sometimes will go quite far from its original location to settle some beautiful spot near your cities, and this one turn before your settler would arrive? Arghhh... I blame Murphy!

It's because two tiles out to the North is not on the continental shelf. Borders don't expand past the continental shelf.

In the current game I am playing, I have 5 resources around Beijing (2 gems, 1 iron, 1 rice, 1pig). So 5 seafood isn't that big a deal.

                                I'm almost broke

Research was probably 40 - 50% or something like that at that time. That gave me big research problems later on. I was falling behind. It was some time ago, so I don't remember all the details though.

UR: the idea was not that you have 5 resources, but so much food.
