  • Future Patches ...

I'm new to this forum but a long-time fan of the Civ series. I've downloaded the 1.09 patch and there is a slightly noticible increase in performance. However, there's still a lot of room for improvement. Does anyone know if MORE patches are in the works and if so, what kind of ETA would we be looking at?

Firaxis does not give ETAs of patches.

I hope that further improved performance with a patch is not an impossibility, however.

Firaxis has announced that some of the code, like the one that operates the AI, will be released in January. So I'm guessing they will also release another patch at the same time.

It's the AI SDK. It's been known for over a year.

Well lets just hope there will be one.. this is a pretty sorry state they've left it in for the moment. Random crashes during single player, random crashes in multiplayer, music skipping, performance problems.. wait.. what did the current patch do again?

It's funny. I've never (knock on wood) had it crash in the ~20 hours total that I've played it. It bogs down often however and all the movies are jerky. Drives me nuts.

My best guess is that the next patch will be released right before christmas. That's when a bunch of people will start playing so it;s a logical time to patch the game.

yes, we are the beta testers....or the "gamma testers" since we already had beta testing
                    Haven't been here for ages....

I'm sure they're just release it if and when it's finished.. rather then delaying it untill a specific date.. doesn't make much sense. But I really really like the game.. I love playing epic games, even though they aren't epic enough for me. I find the middlish renessaince era and on goes too quickly. But I can't get past the game crashing every few turns in and after the industrial age, and it's just unbelievablly frustrating. Its just impossible to play.. the autosaves every 4 turns can't keep up with the amount of crashing.. I just keep playing the same 3 turns and it crashes again.

                      Rather frustrating..

Try using 16-bit color depth on you video card. It may help those late games!
