  • AI cheat?

I have been playing on the Settler level after finding out I can't restore saved games.

In one game I attempted a culture bomb stretagy by trying to grab all the religions. After I founded the capital I started researching Mysticism, which I got from a hut a couple of turns later due to cultural boder expansion. Then I when straight for Meditation. I got it after a few turns, but somehow I didn't get Buddhism. After the turned ended I got a message saying Buddhism is founded in a faraway land.

What on earth? How is that possible?

First: because some cultures (especially the religiously oriented ones) start with Mysticism, and then go straight for Meditation as soon as they plant their city.

Second: they might have had a starting location that provided better gold (research) than yours did, on top of that.

I don't know how the "winner" is determined when two or more civs get the same tech/wonder at the same time. Probably something like whoever was fastest that last turn (in terms of percentage of per-turn production needed to finish) gets the neat toy.

I think it might be possible that there was lag in the "Buddhism is founded in a faraway land" popup showing up, although if that's the case, it's the earliest I've ever seen such lag. One way to check this would be to keep on playing until you meet whomever founded Buddhism, then check to see when Buddhism was founded in the religions screen.
oh god how did this get here I am not good with livejournal

Sounds like message lag, yeah. If you play fast, like I do, sometimes the text messages show up a turn late.

I don't like that lagging problem

Seriously, is that hard to fix? Must be the multiplayer base that this game is built on. That and the screen sometimes not centering on the active unit are hardly things to jump up and down about, but they are a bit annoying.

Yeah, I was playing quite fast - I didn't knoe there's a message lagging problem. Is that's why, on occasion, I get the "this city can't build this wonder" out of the blue, without telling me the wonder was built somewhere else?

Eventually I found out it was Isabella.
