  • Not enough war unhappiness.

I normally play MP and it is not uncommon for people to have a war lasting the entire 5000 years of the game. Even after 5000 years of constant war no was unhappiness can be seen. Isn't this a little unrealistic? For game balance war unhappiness should be tuned up so that the war mongers actually suffer some sort of negative effect.

I thought war unhappiness only geared up when you were the aggressor, or when a significant percentage of your population is the ethnicity of the nation with which you are at war.

If you get attacked by another power, I don't think you should suffer war weariness as a result. That would be a recipe for punishing players who just defend.

Police State significantly cuts how much war unhappyness there is; at one point near the end of a long war, I decided I had enough units, and changed to a different goverment civic, and some of my cities developed an extra 19 or so unhappy faces.
This was bad, and one cant change back for 5 turns...

I think war unhappiness (if you are the aggressor) is just about right.

After about 30 turns or so (don't really recall), i had some 10 unhappiness faces in my core cities. Sure put a halt to my production of military units.

Good thing though was i had enough units to finish the job.

In SP, I occassionally get slammed by war weariness when I am on the march. I don't know anything about MP, though.

Ouch! I've only seen 17 from war weariness.
Modern age; I had declared war to pass through his territory to get to my real opponent, who had attacked ME.

After 5000 years I'd imagine they're used to it.

Mabe you only get weariness if you had peace at some point. It certainly isn't zero for most SP games.

I like the Police State civic -- it's the warmonger's choice

In contrast to SP, MP civ has an additional -50% war weariness.

In AU 100-A (the first Civ IV Apolyton University game), I had a war where I was pushing the culture slider up to at least 50%, maybe 60%, by the end in order to combat war weariness. It can definitely be a huge issue when launching major wars of aggression, at least when using civics that don't mitigate against it.
