Downloaded it, and I'm pretty impressed--a definite improvement visually, even if it takes some getting used to (I had trouble seeing the different tile types quickly...not sure if that will just take time, or if it will stay hard because the colors are too close.)

Is there a way to turn it into a mod, though? Right now it just installs itself and becomes a part of the base game...it would be nice to be able to only load it when I want to. I tried to just copy the files it installed into a mod directory, but that didn't work.

i dont use any software to see how many fps i got...

but civ4 is visually better with the same or more frame par second than before, so for me it's a winner choice.

I instantly fell in love with this, but I do have one small minor gripe. Its a weeee bit too dark. I miss the sun!

Anyhooo.. on the main site for the mod, there is a program called Civ4Scale which is awesome... just awesome. Did I tell ya its awesome? It lets you scale the cities so they are bigger. You can actually see things a lot better like wonders and watermills.

You can also shrink down the scale of the military units. The author(s?) are my new heroes.

Blame the Earth, as that is what the Earth actually looks like from orbit.

Well, maybe that is what the Earth looks like. Remember NASA does a lot of stitching and changing colors and combining images to bring the entire image in when it is combined. I have looked at the Blue Marble Images, and they are bright if out in SpaceTime, and the Earth really does shine. But the images are toned down I think a bit, so NASA does their own imaging of the pictures taken by satellites and such.
Or maybe I made my sharper and brighter, when I was working with all of that!
                  ??
There are also other places that show the Earth also on the Internet!

I can't see any difference...Exactly what does it do?
Also it is just some form of graphics mod right? So works with existing saves?

And where is that world map from...

Maybe I should have worded that a little better. Over all, I think Civ4 is dark. For using the same engine as Pirates, Pirates was a heck of a lot more "sunnier". I realize Pirates was aiming at capturing the paradise carribean feel, but Civ4 doesn't even come close to the sunny enviroments from its predecessor.

With the BM graphics removing the "cartoonie" graphics, the over bright deserts and grasslands, the lack of a sun in game is more noticable.

Even with the oiginal graphics, the game is dark IMHO. Its not a complaint about the BM graphics, its a complaint that becomes more noticable with the game when using the BM graphics.

yes, it works with existing saves- basically it improves tile graphic quality a lot
I will never understand why some people on Apolyton find you so clever. You're predictable, mundane, and a google-whore and the most observant of us all know this.
