I can handle the infinite memory. What annoys me is the AI's "red line" that prevents you even asking them for certain favours, yet they feel quite entitled to ask you for exactly those things and take offence if you don't accept. When I'm embroiled in a war, they still call for you to join in theirs, for example.

Nah, middle east is something that keeps resurging. If I have a war with you, and then 50 turns later I have another war, and then 50 turns after that I have another one, are you really going to forgive and forget my first "crusade" and be happy with me?

Two words: Middle East
The middle east conflict have his roots in the 20ist century. It's not a religious war, even if some media want us believe that. It's a territorial war, with religion being a tool to gather people around an identity, and make it, harder to pacify.
This is not a religious war, being continued since the VII century.
If I dont understand you well, please can you clarify me.

Well, you should visit there and talk to people from the region. Very long memories. My Father would get a "Saudi History lesson" going back 5000 years sometimes about why the Arab view was the correct one and the Israeli/US view was not. He worked in the Kingdom for five years as an ex-pat -- it's eye opening to say the least.
There are historical grudges in southeast asia as well. Chinese and Vietnamese have had it our for each other for a very long time.
Check in with the Greeks and the Turks...that one has been brewing for awhile....
Mayb 5000 years would be too long, but 1000/2000 years isn't out of the question.Haven't been here for ages....
