anyway you liked rome total war so your obviously easy to please

Seriously, I haven't played Rome TW enough yet to be bored by the tactical battles, and Civ4 is basically Civ3+, so it may just be that the one is new and the other isn't.Fitz. (n.) Old English

My current computer won't run, I've not played it yet, and... what else is bad
?
But Civ4 may be just eye-candy. I like Civ3 and Civ2, and I've heard bad experiences from most of the people who tried to run it. Several problems, from video card problems to "Please insert CD-ROM" messages. I guess that they put too many graphics on it and forgot about the rest of the game
.

I think it is really great even though I've lacked the time to really get into it."Yay Apoc!!!!!!!" - bipolarbear

It is a good game. It looked like the epitome of awesomeness a month ago, but as of now at quite some places the gold leaf is flaking.
Don't get me wrong, I like it and for me it is easily the best Civ game ever, but so far it could not hook me back from several other games. With other words, it failed to addict me. I expected to play it for the next time straight, not even looking at other games at all. But the fact that I was able to fire up an old game like NWN last weekend and play it for 2 days straight without even thinking to start a game of Civ4, is somewhat disturbing.

I wonder who said it's a bad game. I mean, you really have to dislike civ in general to say that it's bad. It's maybe not great, but bad ?!?"The only way to avoid being miserable is not to have enough leisure to wonder whether you are happy or not. "

There is a "won't run on my computer" option. But what you are saying is possible."The only way to avoid being miserable is not to have enough leisure to wonder whether you are happy or not. "

When a game can hook me in-and keep me playing-for five hours straight , and on a worknight no less, then I know I have got a brilliant game. This is EXACTLY the level of addictiveness that Civ4 gives me, and that is just on SP. What Civ4 has also managed for the first time is to get me hooked on the MP experience as well!! Yes it isn't perfect, but what game for a mass market is? After all, its hard to please everyone on all fronts (and I figure that what I don't like I can eventually mod anyway!) What they have succeeded in doing is to produce a game which truly satisfies me on a number of different levels (some of them VERY subtle). I can't tell you, for instance, how brilliant it is to get my @$$ kicked by the AI in war-simply because it has outsmarted me, or how I can have a truly thriving and competitive empire with only 4 cities under my control. On those two points alone, Civ4 stands out for me as the BEST TBS game to date.

great game.
zero problems on my computer, and i was so scared after reading reports here. made me really immerse into gameplay, i am finally getting a grip on combat, etc.
in any case, games are nailbiters to the very end, even if i am in the lead. awesome stuff!
