  • Ships going through Land

Last night I was playing and an AI battleship went onto my shore and went around. I've heard of this bug, but last night was the first I've seen of it.

What bug? Does your city border water on more than one side? If so, ships can pass through it. That's not a bug. That's city waterways.

If that's not what you mean, I don't know what you mean.

No, I mean actually going through a giant land mass. It's got to be a bug. Trust me.

Sometimes ships APPEAR to go over the land, but it's just the grpahic way it moves- it still moved through the sqaures around the little peninsula and still counted each of those aquares.

Has nothing to do with cities.

          I've seen this too.

The WORSE bug is the graphical LEANING ships do- that is so ugle when they are lilting to one side (not the cool fast moves they do but just some wierd looking leaning)

I have not seen the ship through land, but I have seen AI Land units cross up to three ocean squares, I think it is mostly workers, but most of the time all I see is the "after streak".

This wasn't a little inland, it was driving right up onto my huge land mass. I have yet to see units on water though.

I have none of these issues

next game I will pick more water and see what happens

I agree on the early era ship leaning while moving, does not appear as bad with modern ships

When are we going to get that patch anyway?

Sure it was not a T35 Land Battleship?

The version of the bug that I have seen is reminiscent of unit movement in civ2. When there are land tiles and water tiles that touch diagonally:

                      Lw
                      wL

diagonal movement in both directions is possible (L-L and W-W). Such movement should be like that in civ3: diagonal movement from one water tile to another should only be possible if one or both of the orthogonal tiles is also a water tile.

I haven't yet seen examples of ships actually crossing a land tile, but I will watch for it.
None, Sedentary, Roving, Restless, Raging ... damn, is that all? Where's the "massive waves of barbarians that can wipe out your civilisation" setting?

I have seen some graphical problems when a city is too close to one of the borders of the map, the city name and all the data is misplaced for 3 or 4 tiles, maybe it´s a similar thing?

I think what the original poster saw was the battleship moving AROUND the land, but on the screen its "after-streak" graphics effect is showing a blur moving across the continent. It happens, but doesn't change the gameplay.

Hell, this is nothing. In one laggy MP game I had a warrior turn into a lion.
