The only one who gets to buy things early on is the person who gets the pyramids. Is this not a huge advantage?

One particular way of labor organization, yes, but being able to switch between different civics no. I would rather gave each city +20% hammers for constructions any other building (except for wonders) as to show that they have superb labor force. The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so
certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts.

Yeah. It's not too powerful either since cash is short- and if you're spending it all on improvements/units, you won't be spending it in diplomacy.
Plus no representation research bonus (combined with the other civic that gives you a free specialist is good),. I dunno, it seems OK to me.

The pyramids were built by the goault (sp). They left lots of knowledge behind - so its quite realistic

I thought the pyramid thing was dumb, definatley.
Also dumb...the Internet. It appears really late in the game making it almost useless. By the time you discover Fiber Optics you probably have most of the techs in the game. What is the use of that? Bring back the Great Library!

Considering that all of the Wonders just give small bonuses, it is surprising that the Pyramids give you all the Government types. it would make more sense that you get a small bonus like +1 hammer/square in that city/obsolete when discovering so and so tech.
